Lots of exciting new things…

Filed under: Doggies! — sashyjane @ 12:30 pm

I have a ton of stuff to show you regarding my house but it’s just going to have to wait.  I’m in full shower prep mode and work is crazy busy.  In the meantime, please read some of the lovely blogs listed on the right side of the page.  This list is filled with people who are far more put-together and clever than I am.  Enjoy!

Or… if you’re not in a blog reading mood, watch this video and squeal.

Now pardon me while I collect every French Bulldog in the world and die of utter bliss.

Doggies are a girl’s best friend

Who needs diamonds when you have a snuggly bunny who loves you like this?

Don’t you love those images?! The one with the baby flanked by two dogs at the window makes me teary eyed every time I look at it! Leesia Teh kills me with her beautiful pictures… you can tell she really, truly loves animals and understands and appreciates their innocence, sweetness and their silly quirks.  She photographs pets (dogs, cats, even goats!) and donates her services to the Atlanta Pet Rescue.  You should really check out her blog.  Be forewarned, you’ll need a dog nearby to hug and kiss because you’ll be so overcome with how adorable the images are that your heart might just burst!

Oh how I love doggies!

Filed under: Doggies! — sashyjane @ 11:08 am

My friend Sarah and I love to spend free time at Borders looking through the glossy magazines we wished we subscribed to.  This past Saturday, she and I each gathered an armload of home decor/improvement magazines and camped out at a table to flip through them.  In one issue I picked up (I can’t remember which one now), I saw a feature on dog-themed wallpaper! How fun!!

These would look just lovely in a study and some would work well in a child’s bedroom.

There was a lovely one by Peter Fasano but it’s not featured on his website and I didn’t get a picture of it in the magazine. :(

Now… all I need is a wallpaperable house, an unlimited budget and somebody to hang the paper up for me. Any takers?

Doggie Ice Cream

Filed under: Doggies!, Ridiculous, Tater — sashyjane @ 4:57 pm

If this blog was a baby, I’d be arrested for neglect!

I had a most fun weekend! I dogsat for a friend who has two giant Golden Retrievers and they were the sweetest, snuggliest things! Here they are chilling out after a long walk.

Sam and Ramsey

In other dog-related news, if you’ve never taken your dog through the drive-thru at Bruster’s, you need to go right now! Bruster’s gives a free dish of doggie ice cream to any dog coming through the drive-thru and I’m here to tell you, it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! Me, Susie and Mama took Tater through this weekend (after she laid down in the shade five minutes into her walk) and you’ve never seen a happier dog!

Miss PotatoLook at that silly tongue!! Mama was “spoon” feeding her with the milkbone that comes in the dish.  When we got her back to their house, she licked the dish clean and dry and brought it in the den to tell us she wanted some more.  What a darling angel!!

I don’t know what they put in that doggie ice cream but judging by Tater’s approval, it must be delicious.

Designer Dogs

Martha Stewart featured photographer Amanda Jones and her book A Breed Apart:A Celebration of the New American Mutt on her website today.  The book is a sweet look at what wonderful pets mutts can make.  Who could resist these faces?

Our family has only owned mutts rescued from shelters and I can say with great certainty that they make the most wonderful pets! They have hilarious personalities and oftentimes the quirkiest faces and bodies.  Each pet adopted from a shelter is truly a unique creation and with so many sweet custom creations out there, there’s bound to be one who fits your family.  There’s no reason not to adopt a mutt! :)

All photos by Amanda Jones.  To view the entire album, visit Martha Stewart[dot]com.

To adopt a sweet shelter doggie in need of a good home, visit Petfinder[dot]com or if you’re in the Atlanta area,  Atlanta Pet Rescue[dot]com.

Have a look at some beautiful photography by my favorite dog photographer at Leesia Teh[dot]com.

A Fun Day

Filed under: Doggies! — sashyjane @ 2:24 pm

If you’re in the North Metro ATL area, you’ll want to check out the Humane Society’s PAWFest 2009.  Despite their pretty pitifully designed website and flyer with centered body copy (my PR professors would have a stroke!) it promises to be a fun day.  This would be a great Mother’s Day treat for your dog-loving Mama and one of my favorite bloggers will be there.

Let me know if you go.  I’d love to hear all about it!  I bet Tater would win the best kisser contest! :)

Sweet Potato

Filed under: Babies, Doggies!, Tater — sashyjane @ 1:32 pm

My parents have the cutest dog ever born.  Seriously.  I’m pretty sure nobody can compete. But this girl might come in a close second place.

Sweet Potato (aka Tater) is half Boxer, half American Staffordshire Terrier and was rescued from a local shelter about 2 years ago.  All of our pets have been recues and we couldn’t be more pleased with all of them. Mama found Tater on Petfinder and fell in love instantly.  She and Daddy went to meet her and knew immediately that she was the perfect dog for our family.

After a litter of puppies and a nasty case of heartworms, Tater was an unlikely choice for most families but for Mama and Daddy, it was like she was custom created just for them.  We’re big fans of smooth, shorthaired, big dogs but Mama also wanted somebody to snuggle up in her lap on the sofa.  Tater was the perfect combination of both.

Just look at how at home she is on the sofa:

And who could resist this snuggly bear?!

I think it’s safe to say we’re crazy about her.  The picture on my phone are about 90% of Tater.

Her hobbies include destuffing toys, napping, trying desperately to get some chocolate (even resorting to tearing up Christmas stockings), learning tricks for a Cheez It, kissing EVERYBODY, going on walks, basking in the sunshine, following Mama around, snuggling on the sofa with Mama, making that puppy face you can’t say no to and not walking on hardwood floors.

Here are some pictures of her doing adorable things:

newbed and new rug*Notice the new bed an the new rug in this picture…

Mama bought a new rug so Tater’s fur would blend in! Then her bed looked shabby so Mama ordered a special one for her.  I’ve never seen such a spoiled animal! Everytime I go over to their house, Tater has a new toy or accessory or treat.  Our poor other dogs were neglected in comparison.

Tell me about your pets! Do you spoil your babies? What bad habits do you find endearing?

If I lived in the 1700s…

Filed under: Doggies!, Ridiculous — sashyjane @ 3:55 pm

doggiesIf you’ve been around me for more than like 12 seconds, you are all too aware of my obsession with dogs.  I was flipping through a magazine while washing clothes at Mama and Daddy’s last night and ran across this ad for Virginia.  I couldn’t help but laugh aloud at  this silliness! I love every single one of those hilarious dog faces! Look at their expressions! They couldn’t care less if the British were coming… well, maybe that chihuahua she’s holding could.  He looks a little terrified.  Don’t ask me what this has to do with living passionately in Virginia but I think it’s hysterical and it makes me so happy that it’s now hanging in my office.
